Tipriti is considered as one of the finest female singers to have emerged from North East India and Wallang is considered one of the most respected blues guitarists of India. Together they formed Soulmate, a blues rock band from Shillong and this Friday they’re back on the High Spirits stage bringing you another kickass set!
They’ve wowed audiences throughout the country and performed at India’s major music festivals like Harley Rock Riders and Ziro Music Festival as well. This gig is one you do not want to miss out on, the music is heartwarming and invigorating!
About the Artist:
Soulmate is a blues rock band from Shillong, Meghalaya, India. The band is primarily made up of Rudy Wallang (guitar/vocals/songwriter) and Tipriti TIPS Kharbangar (vocals/guitar), although they frequently team up with session musicians (on drums, bass, organ and possibly other backup instruments) when on tour.
They came together in February 2003 playing their first concert at the ‘Roots Festival’ at the Water Sports Complex in Umiam. Since then the band has performed many concerts all over The Northeast as well as in different parts of India, Southeast Asia, Europe, The Middle East and The USA.
Soulmate gained nationwide recognition and popularity within jazz and blues circles in India after they became the only blues band to represent the country at the 23rd International Blues Challenge organized by The Blues Foundation of America, in Memphis, Tennessee, USA, in February 2007 and 2010. They were semi-finalists and performed at the Rum Boogie Café (Blues Club of The Year, 2007) and Ground Zero(2010) alongside 150 other bands and musicians from all
over the world.
Tipriti has won the Best Female Vocalist and Rudy won the Best Guitar Player for 2009 in the Jack Daniels Rock Awards.

Who remembers Unohu taking over Bandcubator and just upping their performance level with each time they took the stage? This trio managed to wow the judges and the audience into winning the Bandcubator and the band has finally managed to release their much awaited EP! Playing alongside Gumbal, they take the High Spirits stage again for the Cookout this Sunday afternoon. Warm yourselves up for an afternoon filled with good music, good alcohol, good food, and of course the perfect vibe.
About the Artist:
Gumbal is a Mumbai based alternative/space rock band. Having released a well received electro-acoustic EP called A For in 2014 as a duo, vocalist Arjun Iyer and bassist Satish Sridhar recruited ex-Blek drummer Varoon Iyer and Spud In The Box guitarist, Siddharth Talwar, which has led Gumbal’s sound to come into its own as a full fledged band. The result has been a brand new EP called Small Step, that features three songs from the upcoming debut full-length, Armstrong’s List – a fictional re-imagining of the songs on Neil Armstrong’s playlist on his way to the moon. With a brand new sound, a brand new set up and a whole bunch of brand new songs, Gumbal’s up-and-ready to carve its own space in the ever-growing Indian indie scene.
Since its inception in 2012, while still working their way through college, the alt rock trio has played at festivals such as PUMA Loves Vinyl (2014) the NH7 Weekender Festival Pune 2014, Ragasthan 2014 and New Wave 2015. The band has featured on Radio City, Vh1’s Music Diaries, No Cover Charge, TOI, Hindustan Times and many more media channels. The band’s eclectic musical style is focused on experimentation and creating an energetic live spectacle.

A singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer and actor. He has touched the heart of millions of people through the ages. Bringing in Michael Jackson’s birthday this Sunday, we bring you Arjun and the Teenage Men paying tribute to the King of Pop who brought us Thriller, Billie Jean, Beat It and so many more (let’s not forget the moonwalk)!
Born in 1958 in Gary, Indiana, Michael Jackson became the lead singer of his family’s popular Motown group, the Jackson 5. He went on to a solo career of astonishing success, delivering No. 1 hits from the albums Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad. The “King of Pop” enjoyed a chart-topping career both with the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. He released the best-selling album in history, ‘Thriller,’ in 1982.
Jackson’s victories throughout his career showcased the diverse nature of his work. For his songwriting talents, he earned a Grammy (best rhythm and blues song) for “Billie Jean.” He also was honored for the singles “Thriller” (best pop vocal performance, male) and “Beat It” (best rock vocal performance, male). With co-producer Quincy Jones, Jackson shared the award for album of the year, making it one of the few feats he’s achieved.
