About the artist
A/T/O/S (A Taste of Struggle)
A/T/O/S (A Taste of Struggle) is a project by Amos & Truenoys. Their first ever creation followed by their first ever meeting (Summer’12) & resonated with Mala, who immediately signed them to his label, DEEP MEDi MUSIK. A/T/O/S have consistently built tunes since that meeting, swapping beats between, ultimately leading to their debut (self titled) album’s release in 2014 – via Mala’s platform.
It’s still early in their journey but the music has already commanded support from taste-makers such as Gilles Peterson (World Wide FM), Mary Anne Hobbs (BBC Radio) , Dom Servini (Wah Wah 45 / Amazing Radio), Studio Brussels, Noisey to name but a few. As well as inviting remixes from Skream, Commodo and Internal Sun.The debut video “A Taste of Struggle” (by Simon Mannaerts) was premiered on Noisey (VICE).
The first album brought shows supporting Tricky (AB Brussels), Melanie De Biasio (Prague), LIVE at London’s famous Jazz Café, Notting Hill Arts Club, Worldwide Festival, Electric Brixton, Pukkelpop and many more venues & countries across EU & UK. The second album “outboxed” is due for release. 17th February 2017 and A/T/O/S already have lots of shows in the calendar. The Belgian duo will work with Tim Lebacq adding visual accents to accompany the music (in the form of videos as well as on stage).
A/T/O/S leave the categorising to the audience but they describe the results as being “their influences blended & shaken nurtured by bass” They explore different frequencies and territories on “outboxed” bringing a different energy (yet not too far removed from the debut album), as “music is (and should be) a moving & evolving experience”.
The band features Michiel De Malsche, composer who also appears on the debut album and Vincent Brijs on jazz musicial.
Aniruddh Mehta aka ‘BigFat’ is constantly exploring the larger hemisphere of dub music ranging from roots reggae to meditative low-end dubstep; to shifty percussive beats and rolling basslines.
He believes it’s crucial to understand where dubstep originates from and how its sound has evolved to the present day. In his DJ set you can expect everything from old school heavyweights to the latest releases on cutting edge labels. He has previously shared the stage with Kahn, Goth-Trad, Loefah, Deadbeat, Amit, Hrdvsion and more. He also hosts Control Sessions on, a monthly show dedicated to Soundsystem music. Hoods up, heads down and eyes shut.
Come home to the music!
