About the Artists:
RP Boo
RP Boo, known as ‘The Godfather of Footwork Music’ shyly thinks of himself as an INVENTOR.
RP started his journey of Footwork sounds as a DJ. He was recognized and DJ Boo when he began spinning his unique sounds on the Southside of Chicago (Englewood). During that time, his sounds woke up Englewood’s party heads and before long he was asked to dj three to four gigs a week. But it didn’t stop there…his sounds filtered throughout parties and into their homes. Instant followers requested personal music for themselves. He would record his tracks on 25 to 50 mix tapes and sell out. The party goers’ developed a particular dance-style to fit his beats. Although, no name was given to compliment the fast foot moves demonstrated on the floor. RP continued playing and the crowd adapted its fast dance style, soon birthing the name, Footwork.
If the sounds are hittin’ tough…you will catch RP Footworkin’. RP remembrances when the Footwork was freestyle, then migrating to groups performing on stage. As a former Footwork dancer, he performed with popular groups back then, such as, Mega Move (90-93) to House-O-Matic (93-97).
When the Footwork party scene died, RP continued to make music. Fortunately decades later, on October 2014, RP Boo got his first FAVORABLE opportunity to perform on stage for Unsound Festival. From there, his ‘leaving you stuck’ sounds routed for him to DJ in Midrad-Spain, Japan, London, and Denmark.
RP Boo is a master of oddness! His music takes you somewhere you need to be. FREE!! His style, his breaks, his beats, his rhythmic, his flow of music style cannot be robbed. It cannot be copied…it can only be played. His music is played anywhere in the United States, London, Japan, Africa and recently traveled to India. RP has written, composed, and produced his latest ablums: ‘Bangs & Works Volume I’, ‘Bangs of Works Volume II’, ‘Legacy’ and most recent release EP ‘RP Classics Volume I ‘under Planet Mu Records.
Five things to know about RP: God Lover, humble spirit, Educator/Mentor, loves to smile, and never stops perfecting his music. Freedom with drum-machines!!
Tarqeeb (Translation: Plan) is Ashish Jose. A seeker of hedonism through rhythm, philanthropy through music-making, he formed his moniker in the summer of 2012. The idea was always simple–promotion of quality EDM, minus the little labels and the big boxes. The only constants remain deep, groovy bass-lines, dark atmospheres and a trajectory that ultimately crescendos into high energy dance music. Coming from a Metal (bassist) and Psychedelic trance background, his sets innately include a generous dose of live sampling, layering and an overall vibe that could be defined as ‘eclectic.’
His influences run deep. Think older heavyweights like Photek, LTJ Bukem, Ed Rush, BSE, Concord Dawn as well as producers like Alix Perez, Rockwell, Mefjus, Foreign Concept as a representation of the newer breed of the same.
If asked for a self-description, Tarqeeb tends to turn to one of his major musical inspirations, DnB producer Alix Perez’s words of wisdom: “I play generally deep but dip into various aspects of drum & bass. I like to read the crowd and let the music breathe. I find mixing in the right musical keys essential. I basically see it as a journey.”
Still in its nascent stage, Tarqeeb has already given people a reason to move on dance floors around the country. From NH7 Weekender Pune to Bass Camp Festival Delhi and Indian Surf Festival Orissa he’s enjoyed playing alongside headliners like London Elektricity, Dub Phizix, Koan Sound, Nanci & Phoebe as well as his peers from India’s own burgeoning music scene such as BBC, Ox7gen, Sandunes, Reggae Rajahs, Vice Versa and BASS Foundation to name a few.
More recently, his project has also tied up with the Lightbenders from OLE India introducing interactive light visuals for his sets, which focus on creating a complete interactive audio-visual experience with the audience.
Come home to the music!
