About the Artists:

Stalvart John

Stalvart John found his home in electronic music about a decade back when he discovered artists like Fatboy Slim, Prodigy, and Robert Miles. After taking the plunge into dance music, he found appreciation from audiences across the globe in no time thanks to his radio shows which include Frisky Radio (NY), Afterhours FM (SFO), Tenzi.fm (India), IMRTD Worldwide (NY), Powermix fm Radio (UK) and Radio Schizoid (Mumbai), 1worldtrance among many others.

Known for his deeper take on dance music and his unconventional attitude, he’s contributed to the initial uprising of Kerala’s electronic music scene with a series of gigs in Club 1100 Ramada Resort, Ava Lounge Dream Hotel Cochin, Lagoon – Le Meridien, V-Bar Hilton Garden Inn (Trivandrum). In order to pursue his passion, Stalvart had to move out of Kerala when the music scene got abruptly cut short by the prohibition.

After shifting base to Bangalore in early 2015, he started finding a new comfort zone in Disco infused House & Techno, which has earned him regular showcases at some of the top venues like Humming Tree, Tao Terraces, Bluefrog & Social Offline.

With way too many musical ideas to express, the jump from DJ to producer was imminent – with a debut release on one of India’s finest labels “Wind Horse Records”, he went on to release on German Label “Mind Field Records” on a compilation featuring the likes of like Paul Hartnoll (one half of the legendary Orbital) & Norwell amidst other established names. His latest release on Wind Horse Records got great feedback from  Richie Hawtin (Minus), Miss Nine (Armada), David Marston (Wolf + Lamp) and many more. His latest release “Khwatta Ceremony” coming out on 10th of July has already got early support from Nick Warren, Eelke Kleijn etc.

Opening for acts like Bill Brewster, Thee J Johanz, 1200 Micrograms, Proff, Ad Brown, El_Texf_A, Brassica, Liquid Soul, Sebastian Brandt, Dub Fx among other prominent artists, Stalvart has earned the credentials to be featured on“Top 5 artists to look out for along with Praveen Achary, SHFT, Vinayak^a and Lost Stories by one of India’s top dance music promoters “sLick”.

Stalvart currently has a new monthly radio show at India’s first community radio boxout.fm called “Dynamite Disco Club”. This show takes listeners on a journey through past, present and future sounds of dance music.

more

Event Details

Cutting-edge eclectic Electronic soundscapes coming up this Sunday at the Cookout with 2 incredible experimental heavyweights taking over the decks!

Zokhuma brings in his signature frantic, chopped up African beats & moody experimental electronica layered with infectious Bass!

Primal vibes for inhabitants of the Urban Jungle with a unique amalgamation of Folk & Tribal styles of Percussions & Rhythms with new-age House & Techno by Pioneering beatmaker Luna Toke!

About the Artists:

Zokhuma

At the bleeding edge of his own future, Zokhuma (Arman Menzies) represents the end of old things, the beginning of new ones, and a forged alliance with those making alternative electronic music in previously uncharted territories. Unafraid to criss-cross between soundscapes you’ve never heard—think frantic, chopped-up African beats or moodier, experimental electronica—and soundscapes that are all too familiar, his sensibilities have a way of putting any audience at ease. As does his infectious energy behind the console.

The 24-year-old maverick has a mask for every occasion too. Well known in cult progressive metal circles in India for his earlier work songwriting and playing guitar for Goddess Gagged before moving on to study music production in the UK, he’s already performed in places like Croatia, Netherlands and Sri Lanka under his new moniker while cherry-picking his way through local gigs as well. As he gears up to launch his first EP and live tour, connecting the dots seems impossible when everything is happening at once. But it doesn’t make it any less fun to try.

Luna Toke

Pioneering a contemporary distillation of folk and tribal traditions, Luna Toke soundscapes invoke a journey beyond sound, deep into a primal connection with self and the broader experience of reality that tribes of old all over the world have inherently cultivated and revered through song and dance. Luna Toke conjures the percussion and rhythm of ancient times through modern soundscapes of house and techno, creating a groove that strikes a chord with most listeners in the urban jungle.
